feels like summer

.

Summer is well underway, and it is hot! Temperatures have been over 100 degrees for several weeks now & mama finds herself increasingly unmotivated to take you outside during the day. The heat doesn't seem to bother you, though. So, I've been trying to come up with some fun things to do to keep you happy and me cool. Thank goodness for a/c!

Swimming! Probably about once or twice a week we hit the sprinkler park, the toddler pool, or our apartment swimming pool. Your favorite is the toddler pool, where you like to walk around in neck-deep water. Sometimes you dip your head completely under water, just to show me you can. You always come up looking very surprised and very tickled with yourself. But mostly you scream and wave your hands, walking about.

The library! Round Rock library has almost daily story times for toddlers. And it's indoors. Where it is cool.

Indoor playscapes! Ah...the wonders of indoor parks! We'll hit Chick-Fil-A's playscape, or McD's. Our favorite is Jungle Java...but the last time we went, you decided to lick all the bouncy balls & got sick for several days.

Outdoor parks! Mama's least favorite, ugh! It's. Just. So. Hot. Blech! But, you love the parks and so we go. Usually later in the day and closer to your bedtime. We've gone to all three of the parks within walking distance of home, to a castle playscape in Round Rock, Barton Springs in Austin. You are mostly fascinated with the sand, rocks, and twigs, but do enjoy the slides every once in while. And pointing out all the birds, trees, cars, and dogs. Did I mention how hot it is, though?

Two more months of this heat? Mama's ready for Fall!

  2. Hi Erika! Yes, Princess Iris Bailey is quite the diva when it comes to her curly locks. She loves to have her hair brushed & even sits still for mama to put "flowers" (barrets) in her hair, lol! We are doing great & yes, moved to Austin to ...be close to family. Not working (like being a mom isn't working!), just enjoying this time to be with Iris each day. Adrienna is a doll! I love reading your posts about her - cracks me up! She is so adorable, can't believe she's already a year old. Where is the time going??
